The Publisher On-Call option is for the author who has a pretty good handle on the ins and outs of self-publishing and plans on doing all the work him/herself. On each call, you set the agenda and can find out all the steps from A to Z as to how to take a manuscript in Microsoft Word and get it published as a book. Perhaps you have gotten stuck on a step in the process, you have a few questions, or you want to know how to get started. Come with all the questions have. And if you choose to instead have Press 49 do the work and publish your book for you, then your Publisher On-Call payment is used as a credit towards the final cost of your project.

The Publishing Consultant option is perfect for the author who does not want to become a self-publishing expert but needs more than one or two phone calls to get support with getting his/her book and/or eBook project published and out to the world. With our consulting services, Press 49 consults with you one-on-one to answer to your questions and to provide you with expert guidance on all aspects of self-publishing with the goal of getting your book published under your imprint and in a timely fashion.

Our award-winning team works with you from start to finish to get your book completed. Here is our simple four-step process.

STEP 1: Editing + Preferences

Once you complete and submit your manuscript, we professionally edit your work to include a review of grammar, mechanics, organization, and consistency. We use an eagle eye team of proofreaders to catch and correct all errors, and we make no substantive changes without first consulting with you.

While we edit, you submit your preferences for how you want your book and cover designed.

STEP 2: Design + Identities

Typographical styling of your book includes font selections and pairings, ideal spacing, and integration of expert design elements that give your book a modern, professional look. You get a professionally custom-designed cover that captures your passion, the spirit of your book’s contents, and your signature style.

We secure you library of Congress Control Number and your International Standard Book Number, and we identify your categories all in preparation to submit an application to the United States Copyright Office on your behalf to officially register your book, thereby, officially protecting your intellectual property.

STEP 3: Revise + Proof

You receive a physical proof of your book and submit any revisions you want made. Our team also conducts proofreading to ensure there are no mistakes.

STEP 4: Market + Publish

We bring together all the elements and prepare your book for sale, distribution, and readership so you can sell your books on your website, at your events, in your shops, at conferences … wherever! And we consult with you on how best to market your book.

We submit your title for listing with online retailers such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble, your book and bio are featured in our catalog where we offer print distribution of your book, and we take care of bulk orders whenever you need them.

And you retain 100% of the rights to your work.

Post-Publication Support

We don’t stop after your book’s published. We keep you abreast of additional avenues for monetizing your book. We are your partner in publishing!

See what our clients are saying about working with Press 49 and the owner, Bridgett McGowen-Hawkins.

“I have found that having books allowed me to be invited to more podcasts and gave me a leg up to land bigger conferences. I was informed that being published and having your books sold at conferences gives you a better chance of getting the gig. Thank you so much. ... I landed an HR Indiana speaking gig at their annual state conference, [and] both books will be sold in their bookstore. Thank you for providing a silver lining in my life that is now opening doors that weren’t open before.”
